Lupe Fiasco > Lil' ANYONE

Say what you want, Lupe Fiasco is one of the best rappers, no, MCs out there. While Lil' Wayne claims to be the best rapper alive, or whatever, Lupe is, rather quietly, coming out with truly artistic music. For example, one of my friends asked me about 4 years ago, "Hey, have you heard Lupe Fiasco?" My reply? "Oh, the guy on that one song, Kick, Push? Yeah, I like that song." My friend sighed and commented on how that's the only song anyone had heard, and it was all because of NBA Live 07... I then took the time to listen to his album, Food & Liquor and was astounded at the lyricism and flow that most hip-hop - I use that term loosely - at the time was missing. I got hooked on the message that he sent, not only in his music, but as a human being.

It seems that most people - the people I've talked to, anyway - only know his radio stuff, and only the surface level at that. For example, Superstar ft. Matthew Santos is just seen as a song talking about fame, but if you listen and pay attention, he talks about being a Superstar in BOTH this life and the next. That, in itself, is a beautiful concept, but the fact that he can lace this underlying theme under one song is incredible... But guess what: HE DID IT THE WHOLE ALBUM!!! This isn't just me enforcing my own beliefs on a track. The whole concept of The Cool was built around the titular character, who, from an early age - see song, The Coolest - looks to run the Streets - another character... This speaks so much to the creative genius he is blessed with.

Sorry for the rant, but if that wasn't enough, take an hour out of your life to listen to this. Food for thought...
